I'm sure your g-daughter loved it- nice gift!<br /><br />I made some built-in bookcases for my 'office' using poplar and birch ply, two very blotchy woods to deal with. I used Charles Neill's Blotch Control treatment and it worked amazingly well keeping the blotching to a minimum. Just google him if you're not familiar.
